6.4 SHARING SUCCESSES AND SOLUTIONS

Organizations voluntarily report on their GHG emissions and progress in reducing these emissions through the Voluntary Challenge and Registry (VCR) program. MAC strongly encourages all member companies to register their commitment and action plan to reduce GHG emissions with the VCR.

Following the guidance provided in this manual will allow you to meet a number of the VCR reporting requirements, particularly those related to quantifying your base year, preparing projections, and reporting on results achieved. Table 6.3 provides a summary of the VCR Champion Reporting Requirements and identifies mandatory requirements for each of the three Champion-level classes (Gold, Silver and Bronze). The final column identifies those reporting requirements that are addressed within this guidance manual.

Guidance related to the remaining reporting requirements can be found in the following documents:

Canada’s Climate Change Voluntary Challenge & Registry Inc. Registration Guide 1999. Ottawa. This publication can be obtained by calling the VCR at (613)565-5151 or through the Internet: www.vcr-mvr.ca
• Mining Association of Canada. Strategic Planning and Action on Climate Change: A Guide for Canadian Mining Companies. June 2000. This publication is the companion document to this guidance manual and is available through MAC.
