MAC comments on federal budget 2011

The Mining Association of Canada (MAC) welcomes several of the measures in federal Budget 2011 tabled yesterday.

"The mining industry is an engine of economic growth in Canada", said Pierre Gratton, President and CEO of the Mining Association of Canada "and we applaud those measures in the budget that support and enhance that growth".   Particular measures include:

Mining Association of British Columbia salutes outgoing CEO in move to national stage

The Mining Association of Canada (MAC) today announced the appointment of Pierre Gratton as incoming President and CEO, replacing Gordon Peeling, who is retiring after over 13 years at the head of the national mining group. Pierre Gratton joins MAC after serving as President and CEO of the Mining Association of BC (MABC) since 2008.


MAC announces stepping down of President and Chief Executive Officer, Gordon Peeling

The Mining Association of Canada (MAC) today announced that its President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Gordon R. Peeling plans to step down as head of the association as of April 30, 2011.

 “We are deeply appreciative of Gordon’s contribution to this organization. Over the thirteen plus years of his tenure, he has been instrumental to MAC’s success and growth” said Mr. Doug H. Horswill Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Horswill, on behalf of the Board noted that under Mr. Peeling’s leadership, MAC has achieved considerable milestones:


MAC celebrates the 40th anniversary of Facts & Figures

The Mining Association of Canada (MAC) is celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the annual Facts & Figures report. Widely regarded as the essential guide to the mining industry, the publication chronicles domestic and global issues facing the industry and details the production, reserves, exploration, trade & investment, innovation, tax, and human resource aspects of the mining sector.


L’AMC publie le sixième rapport annuel Vers le développement minier durable

L’Association minière du Canada (AMC) est heureuse d’annoncer la publication de son sixième rapport d’étape annuel Vers le développement minier durable. Le rapport de 2009 énonce les réalisations et les objectifs en matière de responsabilité sociale d’entreprise (RSE) des sociétés participantes.


MAC releases sixth annual Towards Sustainable Mining Report

The Mining Association of Canada (MAC) is pleased to announce the release of its sixth Annual Towards Sustainable Mining Progress Report.  The 2009 Report outlines the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) achievements and goals of participating companies.

“The TSM Progress Report highlights the Canadian mining industry’s commitment to sustainability” says Julie Gelfand, VP Sustainable Development, adding “from concept to implementation, TSM strives for tangible results and transparency on Corporate Social Responsibility.”


Doug Horswill, Teck Resources, est élu Président du Conseil d’Administration de l'AMC

L'Association minière du Canada (AMC) est heureuse d'annoncer l'élection de Doug Horswill à la présidence de son Conseil d’administration. M. Horswill est vice-président principal, durabilité et affaires extérieures, Teck Resources Limited. Il remplace Jim Gowans, président et chef de la direction, De Beers Canada Inc., qui a terminé son mandat de deux ans.
