Member Services
MAC's mission is to promote, through the collective action of members, the growth and development of Canada's mining and mineral-processing industry, for the benefit of all Canadians. In support of this mission the Association strives to provide services to our members which consistently meet their needs and provide good value.
Services Provided to Members:
1. Management of Industry Issues
We help our members to respond effectively to national and, where appropriate, international issues and opportunities by:
- identifying and analyzing emerging issues;
- facilitating the development of industry positions and strategies;
- coordinating action by involved parties and tracking progress.
2. Education and Information-Sharing
We respond to members' needs for important information with appropriate assistance, including:
- providing opportunities for company experts to work together on common problems;
- organizing meetings, conferences and seminars;
- distributing reports and publications.
3. Joint Development of Industry Capabilities
We act as a vehicle for the industry to undertake initiatives to increase its collective capability, through appropriate development programs in areas such as:
- technology;
- environmental management practices;
- health and safety.
4. Self-Regulation
We help and encourage the industry to act responsibly and to take the initiative in areas such as the environment and health, by:
- facilitating the development of appropriate policies, guidelines and codes of practice;
- encouraging company performance and commitment to improved standards;
- developing and sharing relevant information and feedback on performance.
5. Public Communication
We take positive, agreed actions toward improving public understanding and support of the industry, including:
- tracking public opinion or attitudes;
- disseminating reliable information to interested parties;
- coordinating national communications strategies and programs.
